A reflection on goal-setting, clarity, and moving forward one step at a time
30th December 2025
As I woke up this morning, I looked out of the window and saw a wall of fog.
I live on a higher floor, and from there, visibility was almost zero. I had an early session to reach, and for a moment, I genuinely wondered how I was going to manage it.
Fog has a way of creating uncertainty, especially when you know you need to be on the move.
But the destination was clear. I knew I had to go. So I did what I could control. I got ready, went downstairs, got into my car.
And that’s when something interesting happened. At ground level, it really wasn’t that bad.
From the 12th floor, I couldn’t see much because I was trying to see too far. But from the driver’s seat, I could see what mattered... the road immediately ahead, the cars around me, the next turn, the red traffic signal. There was enough visibility to keep moving. With a roadmap guiding me, slowly but surely, I reached my destination without trouble.
On my drive there, it struck me... this is exactly how goal-setting works.

We start with a dream. We convert it into a goal. But it often feels intimidating, even unattainable, because we fixate on the end point instead of the path. When we try to see the entire journey at once, everything feels foggy.
That’s why breaking goals into smaller objectives matters. That’s why having a clear roadmap helps. And that’s why moving step by step, while measuring progress through milestones, keeps us going.
The bigger picture is important. But it’s the path, the map, and the willingness to take the next step, even when visibility is limited, that actually get you there.
So, as you make your resolutions this year, remember this, "You don’t need perfect visibility. You only need to see the next step clearly."
Here’s wishing you a happy new year. May the fog lift in 2026, and may your goals shine in the distance like a steady beacon, guiding you forward, one turn at a time.
XOXO
